It wasn’t really my intention to do a long blog today, but I made the best french toast ever because of one really strange ingredient that wouldn’t think even belongs in French Toast…
I’ve been craving mimosas for a few weeks, but every time I went to the store, I would totally forget to buy champagne. I usually don’t drink anything but water, so OJ isn’t ever really present in my fridge.
I figured it might be cool to add a bit of citrus to jazz up my normally boring french toast, and I thought that since I was pretty keen on having mimosas, I could make my french toast compliment my drink, and boy did it ever.
I used French bread for these guys (natch, although Challah bread would have probably been amazing too). The toast was big, but the bites were light, and I can definitely give myself some praise for this one! SO good. I paired it with a simple Mimosa, and my favorite recipe for bacon. It was the perfect way to wake up this morning.
So there’s really no recipe needed. Make French toast as you would, and just add a 2/3 of a cup of OJ to your egg mixture. I squeezed mine from fresh oranges, which I think will totally make the difference (It’s not processed, or pasturized)
