Ingredients
The Dough:
1/3 cup warm water
1 package active dry yeast (2 1/4 tablespoons)
1 tablespoon raw honey
1 teaspoon salt
1 beaten egg at room temperature
2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
2/3 cup warmed half-and-half
1/2 cup Truvia Sweet Complete Granulated All-Purpose Sweetener
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
The Strawberry Jam Filling:
2 cups fresh, whole strawberries
1 tablespoon of cornstarch dissolved into 1/4 cup of water
2 teaspoons of fresh, grated ginger
1/2 cup Truvia Sweet Complete Granulated All-Purpose Sweetener
The Cream Cheese Filling
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup Truvia Sweet Complete Granulated All-Purpose Sweetener
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
1. Mix the water, yeast, and honey in a large bowl.
2. Set aside for 5-6 minutes or until the yeast starts to bubble.
3. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment mix, turn your mixer on low speed to incorporate the yeast mixture, and then add egg, half-and-half, melted butter, Truvia Sweet Complete Granulated All-Purpose Sweetener and salt until it’s fully mixed.
4. Remove the paddle attachment and swap it with your dough hook. Slowly add your flour and beat on low until blended; your dough should be wet and sticky but starting to form.
5. Knead until the dough doesn’t stick to the sides of the bowl, and the sides of your bowl are completely clean.
6. If your dough is too wet to form into a ball, keep adding flour 1 tablespoon at a time, gradually until it comes to the right consistency.
7. Remove the dough from the bowl and form it into a ball.
8. Coat a bowl with melted butter and place the dough in a greased bowl so your dough doesn’t stick.
9. Cover with a warm towel and let rise until doubled – about two hours.
10. Punch down the dough to release the air.
11. Divide dough into 10 portions.
12. Flatten the dough balls and form a well in the center of each.
13. Fill each well with 1 tablespoon of filling of your choice.
14. Brush with half-and-half.
15. Bake at 425F for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
16. Let rest for 5 minutes then enjoy! Careful – they’re hot!
The Strawberry Jam Filling
1. In a medium saucepan, add in 2 cups of whole strawberries, 1/4 cup cornstarch slurry, 2 teaspoons of fresh ginger and 1/2 cup of Truvia Sweet Complete All-Purpose Granulated Sweetener.
2. Cook the mixture until it reduces by half, and thickens. The mixture will also turn deeper in color.
3. Set aside, it will continue to thicken as it cools.
The Cream Cheese Filling
In a stand mixer bowl with the paddle attachment, beat cream cheese, Truvia Sweet Complete Granulated All-Purpose Sweetener, and vanilla on high speed, and incorporate until fluffy.
