Vegan Beignets

Share

Every so often I really want a good dessert. If I’m going to eat something carby, I want to make sure it’s worth it. I’ve got two words for you. Vegan Beignets.

Vegan Beignets

I found a great dessert that I love, and tastes so, absolutely delish. The best part is that you can still enjoy it even with a low-carb sugar substitute so it doesn’t make you feel guilty.

Not so long ago when I went to New Orleans, Bryan and I felt like we had to try Cafe Du Monde. The visit was great, but I could literally only eat one bite of a beignet and I was done. It was so rich and I also didn’t want the crazy blood sugar spike. When we came home, I thought it would be so cool to have a beignet in Houston, but there aren’t many places here that make them, and do it well.

Then, Carmen from Green Valley Cafe told me about theirs, and I had to give it a try because the concept was so different.

If I told you that puffy, soft, buttery tasting vegan beignets existed, you probably wouldn’t believe me, but let me tell y’all! These Veignets do exist and are made by Green Valley Cafe in Houston – a family-run healthy food shop that started in 2017.

Vegan Beignets

The concept is simple – soy, dairy, and egg-free vegan beignets. They’re really simple, you can order them online and get them shipped to you. you just take them out of the package, pop them into the oven for 10 minutes, and sprinkle your sugar (or powdered sugar substitute, like Swerve!).

They look and taste amazing. to have no dairy, they’re incredibly buttery for a product with no dairy. They’re also an incredibly pillowy texture. Once they come out of the oven they’re golden on the outside and extremely soft in on the inside.

Vegan Beignets

Green Valley Cafe will ship them to you – and as with all shipped perishables, the shipping is more than normal, however, it ensures that it’s packed in a cooler, with enough ice to make sure that they arrive at your door nice and frozen.

So, if you’re looking for NOLA style beignets and you want to enjoy a food without dairy or soy, check out these Veignets. It’s such a genius idea and they’re worth that splurge.
