We all want to eat healthier, right? But where is the time? For me, my day consists of my day job, my night job (this), tracking my diabetes stats, and getting through each day as best I can. It’s the best you can do when you have diabetes.
I’m not ashamed to admit that every once in a while I need a little help. It’s not always easy to make it through the day, and eat perfectly – especially when there are so many temptations around.
Another thing that I struggle with is just being more creative in the kitchen. Once I find something I love, I usually eat it until I’m sick of it, and we all know that can be so boring.
So when Snap Kitchen invited me to try their Meal Plan for a week, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out better than I could have imagined.
First thing is first: What is Snap Kitchen?
Snap Kitchen is a healthy meal service that essentially preps and cooks your meals, all you have to do is go to their brick and mortar stores and choose what you want, or go online and select your order for delivery, or pick up. Snap Kitchen has stores in Houston, Austin, Dallas
So, how do you get started with a meal plan?
Snap Kitchen makes their meal plans very simple to access. You choose a plan, and those are from some general diets we all know – low carb, paleo, and Whole 30 being some. You can swap out meals from the plan, or skip weeks as needed.
My preferred method was to go low carb, and also go for meals that I tend to skip, or that I’m a little uninspired to make. For
What happens once you choose your meal plan?
As you’re putting together your meals, you can customize it to your liking. Need a certain amount of calories per day? You can edit that as you wish. Is there a snack you just love? Add it to your cart. Want water and juices? Add them to your plan.
Once you’re all done, choose your method of delivery – you can either pick it up at your closest location, or you can have it delivered to you. My plan was split into two, and I picked up my dishes twice a week for optimal freshness.
How do the meals taste?
For me, the meals were satisfying, but there were times I added a little bit of seasoning, or hot sauce to get it closer to what I’m used to. The idea of the meal plan is that the foods can fit into your life, so I didn’t feel bad about making some “edits” that didn’t necessarily add calories, or carbs, but got things closer to what I like.
There were plenty of healthy trades within the meals that I thought were genius – cauliflower instead of grits, a Tex Mex bowl loaded up with veggies, so you didn’t even miss the high-carb rice. These meals take classic dishes that you’re used
I also loved that the instructions were always available on each of the containers. Most times you had to microwave the meal for under two minutes, or you could empty it into an oven safe container and bake it. Microwaves are notorious for drying food out, but despite that, every meal still came out as intended. I really loved that!
What about the price?
The price depends on what you need – I got five days of breakfast, lunches
When you think about how much you would spend to eat out, or the time on meal prep, it’s reasonable to have some pre-prepped dishes at your disposal.
Worth it or not?
The Snap Kitchen Meal Plan was worth it to me. For the ease, the cost and the help controlling my blood sugar with the help of meals that fit within my macros, it was something that I really enjoyed and fit within my lifestyle. Even if you don’t want to do the full plan you can order a day from the app just as easily!

Umm I had never heard of this before but now I wish there was one close to me!!!!!
It’s awesome that they offer diet-specific meal plans for Whole30, Paleo, etc. This makes it so much easier on people who follow these diets and don’t have the time to meal prep.
I love to cook, but sometimes the planning and grocery shopping can feel like a real chore. This sounds like a great option to add in to what I’m already doing!
This looks like a great plan … I had not heard about it before. Wonder if they have vegetarian options.

These meals look great! I’m also guilty of finding something I like and sticking with it. It’s hard to be adventurous in every facet of your life. This looks like a great cure for that! 🙂
